Q. How to get UMT? Where can I find the latest information about UMT?
A. Please check UMT Home Page or UMT ftp area for latest information. In files README and Release.Notes you can find latest information about UMT.
Now we also have the following mirrors:
* Thanks to tima@komkon.com for giving us space on 'ftp.komkon.com'.
A. You can get new licnse from any UMT ftp site. For example: UMT.license.common.valid.till.year.2001 . We use licnesing now to make sure that nobody will be using outdated versions. If you feel uncomfortable having license for short period of time, please write to umt@topaz.kiev.ua and we'll generate for you personal key. Do not forget to include your hostid. See README for details.
A. Yes! Now you can download UMT in RPM format from and UMT ftp site.
A. You can contact us at the following addresses: umt@topaz.kiev.ua internal mailing list forUMT development team.
A. You can subscribe to umt-users mailing list: send letter to umt-users-request@whale.gu.kiev.ua with a following string in a message body "subscribe umt-users <your@address>"
A. Currently we support IRIX, HP-UX and Linux-ELF. We no longer going to support Linux-AOUT.
A. The latest version of UMT is UMT 1.0 Beta3.
A. This is beta version, and it's free of charge. Linux versions will be free forever.
A. UMT uses Interviews(IV) library for it's GUI. For running version of UMT with IV-shared you have to install IV shared library. If you use several products, that use IV, or have IV reinstalled, it's useful to install UMT with IV-shared. In other case you can install UMT with IV-static.
A. UMT has one global config file(cfg) (/usr/local/lib/UMT.cfg)
and one local cfg for each user (~/.UMT/user.cfg). Options from
global config can be overridden by options from local. If you have changed
global options and have the same options in your local cfg, it will not
change setup of UMT.
Now UMT read cfg files only at startup. So, for working your changes
in cfg you need to restart UMT :(
A. Once there was an UMT Configurator for UMT Beta1. It was standalone Stk application. We do not support it now and it will not work with latest versions. Use your preferable editor to customize UMT.
A. First of all, you can change the system font (menus, text, text buttons) by editing SystemFont item in your config file, or by adding option -fn <font> at UMT command line. You can change all fonts in MsgView(Body and Header) and MsgEdit windows by editing section RTFEditor.Fonts and RTFEditor.HeaderFonts.
A. Yeah, there are two handlers, that process keyboard - InterViews' for header, and our own for MsgBody. And all hints below are for our Editor only: For customizing the keyboard edit your config. file, section RTFEditor.Keyboards. Add subsection German, to German subsection add the field HotKey, MainKeys, AlternativeKeys. For HotKey write the key-switcher, and for *Keys just type all the keys from keyboard (NOTE: you should comment symbol >"< like >\"<). You can type only the symbols, that different from default keyboard, for both sections, but it was not tested enough. So, the better way is to open your editor, that supports German, and edit this subsections: type all keyboard symbols for MainKeys in English mode and for AlternativeKeys in German mode. For using ALT-<key> just type Alt+<your_symbol> "\{". For example, you can check the files from directory sample-configs from your distributive.
A. Because it is not the first letter with question about filters I'd like to describe the algorithm:
Our team spent a lot of time with arguing about the algorithm for filters, because there is sense to apply filters while Arriving new letter. I think, the right way to solve the problem is to make it customizable, or to ask people from this mailing list :)
A. You should not change "From:" field! You can add "Reply-To:" if you'd like all answers come to another address.
A. Yes, we planned to use algorithm with adding "Reply-To:" field. But we have some letters with this problem, when UMT fills "From:" as user@computer_name. There are some ways to solve this problem:
A. Thank you very much.
